Prior to establishing Beauty 4RM Ashes, Shanesha Scott had an impressive career as a makeup artist, model, and radio host. Additionally, she held leadership positions in Corporate America for an extended period. It was her diverse experiences that fuelled her decision to venture into the field of life coaching. Regrettably, her health took a turn for the worse shortly after the business’s inception, compelling her to temporarily halt operations and prioritize her well-being. She shares, “I am excited to announce that I will be doing a grand reopening this year of my life coaching business as a Leadership Coach.”
Below are highlights of the interview conducted between World’s Leaders and Shanesha Scott:
Describe who you are as a person, inside and outside of the workplace.
I like to describe myself as an authentic, empathetic, curious, and introverted person—both inside and outside of the workplace. I think people appreciate the empathy I have for others and my authenticity. There is no perfect person, and we are all growing and learning as we live this thing called life. With that being said, I am very self-aware and treat others as I want to be treated. As a former makeup artist and model, I still enjoy glamming myself up every so often. I also enjoy making TikTok dance videos since overcoming the autoimmune condition I was diagnosed with in 2020, called polymyositis. This inspired me to write my first book, “When I Got Sick. A Story of Tragedy & Triumph” in 2021. My second book will be released on June 4, 2023, called “Birthing the Leader Within You. Your Guide to Becoming an Effective Leader.” Both can be purchased on Amazon.
Tell us about the inception of the company. How did it all start?
In 2020, I started losing my passion for makeup. My desire was to help people who were facing adversity in their lives. I had overcome so much adversity in my own life, that I felt my calling here on Earth had a bigger purpose. Plus, people have always felt comfortable talking to me and asking for my advice so that led me to get my certification as a life coach in late 2020 and open my business, Beauty 4RM Ashes.
What has made you successful? What do you value?
The major thing that has made me successful is my big heart to help people and my drive to go after everything I put my mind to. One thing I value most is integrity. Integrity is my major focal point in both my business and personal life. I believe that if you have a foundation built on integrity, everything else will fall into place. Also, remaining authentic. I think we live in an age where everyone wants to be the same. I prefer always being my authentic self. Besides it would be too much work trying to keep up a façade.
Which are the major services of the company and how do they the company get ahead in the competition? What value-added services does the company provide?
As for my grand relaunch, I will be offering leadership coaching. This will be an avenue for people looking to become leaders or for existing leaders who want or need extra guidance. I have a Bachelor of Science in Management and Leadership, and I am currently pursuing my Master of Science in Industrial and Organizational Psychology. I have a certification as a life coach. Not to mention, I have a wealth of life experience, which means I often relate to situations my clients may endure. I am an empath, so I have compassion for people and their situations. I find that people who have overcome adversity have a different understanding of life in general. I am able to empathize with people and bring my leadership background, managing and guiding people from different walks of life.
What are the most important aspects of a company’s culture? What principles do you believe in and how do you build this culture?
Having integrity and authenticity are some of the core values of my company. I vow to always be ethical in all my practices. This will build authentic relationships with my clients and other businesses that want to partner with me.
What is the significance of innovative ideas in the company?
Technology is moving at warp speed. I am always looking for innovative ideas to make my company operate more efficiently. I always want to give my clients a great user experience- not to mention operate my business as effortlessly as possible. I look forward to offering self-serve options that pertain to leadership-building classes.
Give us your opinion on; do organizations rely heavily on individual heroics or team processes.
I think they go hand in hand, but overall, it’s each individual that runs and operates a company. Also, the processes can often be black and white, and as many know, there are so many shades of gray. It all comes down to each individual and then the team collectively to make things happen.
What are your responsibilities as a Founder of the company? What is the happiest part of your daily routine?
My responsibilities are to ensure that the clients are satisfied with the service I offer. Also, to take customer feedback seriously. I am always open to constructive feedback. I am human, so I will not always get it right. The happiest part of my daily routine is helping people get where they want to be in their lives, careers, or leadership goals.
What advice would you give someone going into a leadership position for the first time?
First and foremost, I would say pick up a copy of my book, “Birthing the Leader Within You. Your Guide to Becoming an Effective Leader,” which will be available on Amazon on June 4, 2023. Next, explore additional projects or responsibilities that will give you experience as you prepare for a leadership position. Also, if available, get a reputable mentor who is currently in leadership. A mentor will assist in answering questions and offering much-needed guidance as you go through your leadership journey.
