Self-confidence is a positive attitude toward one’s own skills and abilities. It implies that you accept and trust yourself, and that you have a sense of control over your life. You are aware of your own strengths and weaknesses and have a positive self-image. Low self-confidence, on the other hand, may cause you to doubt yourself, be passive or submissive, or have difficulty trusting others. You may feel inferior, unloved, or easily offended. Greater self-confidence liberates you from self-doubt and negative thoughts about yourself. Feeling less anxious and more fearless. Greater confidence makes you more willing to take calculated risks and push yourself outside of your comfort zone. The more self-assured you are, the happier you will be with yourself and the more you will appreciate what life has to offer. It’s that easy! Less fear and anxiety: When you have a high level of confidence, you can accept, adapt, learn, gain, and benefit from any situation in life.
From there, Paulo Paulek, CEO of U-Payments, was confident enough to decide to form a company that would be disruptive in terms of technology and services, from there the decision was made to set up U-Payments. Two friends, an Argentinian named Gabriel Vozza and Paulo, a Brazilian, met in a cafe and decided to form a company, and thus U-Payments was born.
Prior to U-Payments, Paulo worked in the industry of card payment solutions where he visualizes the need to bankarize and digitalize the financial industry. This was more than ten years ago.
Role and Responsibility
The role of Paulo is to lead the future, manage the daily activities, search, and hire the best talents he can get, hunt for innovation, new clients, and new technology opportunities, establish a human group within the company, and ensure that clients know they have a company that cares about them. He dreams long-term vision initiatives and sharing with the team.
First and foremost, Paulo is deeply concerned about people attitudes, self-effort and being capable of leading his daily activities. Paulo is just the top of the iceberg, but everything behind is made up of people with work skills, leadership, power to manage their clients, structure, and security to manage support, product, and sensitive information. Paulo has a bunch of highly skilled professionals in the team. He doesn’t need diplomas or people with impressive titles; he needs brilliant people who are worth more than a diploma. That is what turns a small business into a large one, not just thinking about profit. The dreams, must be the driver.
“I didn’t finish high school and I’m not ashamed of that. It was thanks to life experience that made me value the people around me.” – Paulo Paulek says
Human capital is the most valuable asset in the organization, with 80 percent of funds invested in people. At U-Payments, the team gives the opportunity to people who start from the bottom and grow with them, with support and guidance and self-effort.
U-Payments
U-Payments was founded with the goal of creating a sustainable structure at a multicultural environment, for a global project and purpose. Therefore, Paulo entered the credit, debit, and prepaid card processing universe, which clearly needed a drastic change in the global market because the current processors carry between 40% and 50% of the total operational cost.
U-Payments is a fast-growing fintech which developed a state-of-the art, cloud-based platform for payment processing with a global network of end-to-end card solutions and payments. U-Payments platform enables end-to-end management and administration of payment cards (digital and physical) for banks, retail and multiple solutions for organizations on an end to end basis.
The company`s alliances with world-leading partners (such as Mastercard, Microsoft, Cisco and Oracle), allows U-Payments to offer a modern, flexible, scalable, secure and highly configurable platform which allows its customers to increase sales, reduce costs and build customer loyalty.
The company develops technical platforms for clients to help them expand their reach, performance, and profitability in their current and future businesses. U-Payments accompanies his clients through the entire process of analysing, diagnosing, evaluating, developing, implementing, maintaining, and optimising the agreed-upon solution.
Beliefs of the Company
Paulo Paulek embodies his values and upholds the company’s culture and ideas. The first thing is the truth; the second is trust; and the third is freedom and opportunities for the development of human capital. U-Payments is an innovative company with added value, a company that is not afraid of the big ones, without fear of receiving threats from the very great for offering top services on low costs basis. The company has never required outside funding, walking by itself at its own rhythm.
Paulo is proud of being able to keep a healthy environment. Arriving at the company and realising that what he has created is real and valuable. The team rely on a confidence basis and being able to support their families that are a part of the company. Its approach is to be as close to the staff as possible. This period of technological development has a reaction, and it is always for the better.
“This era of technological change has a reaction and it is always for the better. If it is for the better, you have to look for the best, and when you look for the best at the market level, it has its added value.”-says Paulo Paulek.
No limits to challenges
As the company’s CEO, Paulo’s biggest difficulty is managed everything that comes next, generating the primary businesses, so that the company can achieve its growth goals based on three things: human capital, cutting-edge technology, and technological disruption for all of the items that are developing.
“The investment and negotiation capacities have no limits; I have no limits to the challenges. It can be whoever or whatever, it is unlimited.” -says Paulo.
The difficulties are the anxieties that come with beginning a solid and large company, which is understandable, but courage with talent, triumphs over fear, and courage comes from talking to and being supported by individuals who are prepared to take risks in the market, which is the tremendous value that a team has. The upstanding human capital at U-Payments, which other companies fail to apply. Paulo and his team progressed from training a youngster to preparing one and assuaging worries. In order to overcome difficulties, one must first overcome anxieties.
Paulo faced numerous challenges and frustrations with partners and investors, and the company today is largely built on those disappointments, joys, and successes, which he learned from his failures and learning also, by the talented people he met.
Paulo admires, “The more I challenge myself, the more I want to win. The more challenges I have, the more hindrances I have to overcome.”
Futuristic Goal
The vision was created on the first day of the company’s existence, when Paulo learned from prior mistakes that caused his family so much pain, but also made him stronger, more capable, and with clear ideas of what to do and what not to do. In terms of his personal life, Paulo had the support of his family in maintaining a professional life and starting a company from the ground up. They understood that Paulo would not be able to be available for a while, but they also knew that the harvest would soon arrive, and he would be able to spend more time with them.
In addition, Paulo will always be grateful to Nelson Rojas of Caja Los Andes, who believed in his work, as well as Microsoft and its directors, Oracle, Infinitus, Rending, Transbank Chile, the Spanish and Norwegian consulates, who believed in the company’s future, and the Fintech association, which provided them with a wealth of experience and added to the quality that they will provide to the financial and non-financial industries.
Paulo advises future generations to be really present from the start of the work, not to be fearful of what is to come, and to have faith that the business will succeed. Without a doubt, it will take a long time, but you must persevere. The advice is to choose societies or people who are extraordinary, who have the ability to support challenges and share your dreams.
