Below are highlights of the interview conducted between World’s Leaders and Nathalie Botros:
Describe who you are as a person, inside and outside of the workplace.
I am someone who values happiness and positivity in life. I approach every aspect of my life with unwavering passion, whether it’s in my personal life or it’s in my roles as a psychotherapist, entrepreneur, author, speaker, or coach.
Describe your past journey, and what did you do before starting your company?
I have a master’s degree in psychotherapy. Before creating The Bon-Vivant Girl, I worked in banking, fashion, and event planning in Europe. These experiences led me to become the person I am today and have been a life training program to start my company and succeed.
Tell us about the inception of the company.
When I moved to New York 15 years ago, I gained a lot of weight without noticing and did what every woman does: tried every diet available on the market. I lost my joy but not any weight, so I decided to put to work my training in psychotherapy and focus on my life as a whole rather than on my plate. With time, I learned that healthy meant happy, not skinny. My book, “If You Are What You Eat, Should I Eat a Skinny Girl?” was to help other women struggle with the same issue. It is not a diet book; it is a guide to self-love and acceptance, with some tips and tricks for a happier and healthier life.
It was the birth of the Bon-Vivant girl. A bon vivant is someone who lives well and enjoys life’s pleasures. It is really what describes me, my life, and my company’s mission today.
What has made you successful? What do you value?
I think it is my expertise in the field, hard work, and persistence. I am my company, so I lead by example. I value working closely with my team, fostering a sense of unity and collaboration that resembles a supportive family dynamic.
Which are the major services of the company, and how does the company get ahead in the competition? What value-added services does the company provide?
My company’s service revolves around helping women find happiness. The coaching program is the one that has the most success, but we also offer online courses, books, and happiness tips cards.
My diverse international background enhances my ability to connect effectively with individuals from various cultures and languages, making our company more inclusive and accessible to a global audience.
What are the most important aspects of a company’s culture? What principles do you believe in, and how do you build this culture?
We take pride in our multicultural company, which not only broadens our reach to a diverse audience but also aligns with our core belief that happiness and success don’t come in the same “package” for everyone. To this end, we provide a range of services and approaches tailored to our clients’ specific needs and aspirations. Our ultimate goal is to help people find happiness on their own terms, independent of external factors such as people, objects, or even physical appearance.
What is the significance of innovative ideas in the company?
We are always open to new ideas and ways to communicate our message.
Give us your opinion on whether organizations rely heavily on individual heroics or team processes.
I would definitely say team processes. Teamwork amplifies strengths, promotes innovation, and achieves collective success, making it integral to organizational excellence.
What are your responsibilities as the founder of the company? What is the happiest part of your daily routine?
I love what I am doing because it helps my mission to put a smile on people’s faces on a daily basis. I am the “conductor” of the company, and my team helps me infuse smiles into people’s lives.
My favorite part is when I put a smile on someone else’s face. I call it the “Smile It Forward” movement. I make sure to put a smile on at least one person’s face daily and ask them to do the same so we can create a ripple effect of happiness.
What advice would you give someone going into a leadership position for the first time?
I think the first one is to define your goal and your target market or audience. You should also get rid of your fear. Think about it: if you don’t try, you failed anyway, so what do you have to lose? And even if you fail, it is not the end of your journey. It is a learning process and a stepping stone to success. So, say yes and start the exciting adventure!
