Lyn Ola, the founder and CEO of Chimes Consulting, is a force to be reckoned with. She is strategic and fast to see an opportunity.
Chimes Consulting, which was founded in 2019, combines IT and digital marketing to provide solutions that are tailored to the demands of its clients. Chimes is a group of brilliant consultants selected by Ola who are ready to take on any business challenge, no matter how complicated.
Lyn Ola had a strong foot in the business world before to assuming the helm as CEO, having worked for international corporations. Lyn Ola is also a part-time lecturer at one of the Philippines’ top institutions, where she teaches Business Administration courses and connects them to the origins of Chimes.
Below are the highlights of the interview conducted between World’s Leaders and Lyn Ola:
What was the idea behind starting Chimes Consulting?
Ola started her business in different industries, and Chimes Consulting was something that she didn’t plan to build, but was created by demand.
Ola has a great passion to help people. She hopes of providing more jobs. Since Lyn Ola is known in the industry, she is being hired left and right by different projects. Seeing the need in the IT and digital marketing area, Lyn Ola officially founded Chimes Consulting.
Today, Chimes has a team of consultants with unique backgrounds and hailing from different parts of the world. Team members are located in the Philippines, Japan, Singapore, South Africa, France, UAE and Japan. The team’s diversity increased creativity and productivity, which also helped the company with an increase in clientele.
How do you diversify your company’s cutting-edge services and solutions for people, entrepreneurs, and business leaders?
Most of the projects that Chimes Consulting handle are client based requirements. We provide solutions to their automation, digital marketing and customization problems.
Additionally, Chimes consulting also provides SAAS solutions, that are mostly based on day to day problems being encountered by anyone.
As the CEO of Chimes Consulting, what are your major roles and responsibilities?
As the CEO of Chimes Consulting, Ola is tasked with significant responsibilities.
Ola takes the role of mentor and leader for her team. She’d help people out of their comfort zones when she senses untapped potential in them — all because she believes in their individual development, even outside of Chimes. “After all,” Ola mentions, “businesses are only as resilient as the people behind them.”
Starting off the business, she’d play almost all the functional roles there were and jokingly wished that she had listened more to her MBA subjects way back.
Most of the tasks that she is responsible for are building rapport with clients and sales, aside from managing, forecasting, and strategizing its direction.
What are the three things you would like to improve in the organization?
At the top of my head, more systems. Not just automated systems as a tool but systems that will efficiently make all the functional areas function smoothly.
For Chimes to continue gaining traction, the entire organization would need to adapt to the evolving world of business. However, Ola believes that Chimes still has a room for growth.
What are the changes the pandemic has brought to the IT industry?
The IT industry has boomed as everyone needs IT and digital marketing services to survive. I must say that it has increased the opportunities in the IT industry, which has also triggered a lot of competitors to rise.
Have you been exposed to competition in the industry? If yes, tell us what makes the company different from its competitors?
Competition is never-ending; companies with the same services are popping up everywhere, with just one click. Though Chimes Consulting is not aggressively marketing its services, the company continuously steps ahead and innovates. Clients choose Chimes Consulting because of the relationship they build and of their previous clients’ referrals.
The flexibility of the products that Chimes offers makes them competitive. Chimes aims to be the most trusted and sought-after marketing and IT solutions provider to businesses and entrepreneurs worldwide.
Tell us about your vision for the company.
How do you ensure a culture of integrity and innovation in the company?
I envision to expand the business globally by providing SaaS and customized services. You need to walk the talk. Do what you implement.
What’s the greatest risk you’ve taken as a professional?
Resigning from my corporate job was one of the gambles I made. I wanted to provide more value in what I do but I don’t have any plan back then. All I know is I want to help people. Knowing myself that I always find opportunities, I risked the career I built that I always wanted.
How do you balance work and life responsibilities?
Working remotely is a challenge. Personal and Work life integrates most of the time. Time management is the key. My calendar is maintained properly. Strictly maintained. I make sure I have time for work and for leisure or myself.
What advice would you give to the emerging entrepreneurs and enthusiasts considering a career in an industry?
Being an entrepreneur is great. You will be able to do a lot of good work. Just prepare yourself to handle demanding people. Additionally, do not underestimate the power of collaboration and partnerships.
