Itron investigated how customers and utility executives throughout the United States saw catastrophes via several lenses in 2019, as well as the disaster preparedness lifecycle (prepare, respond, recover). Utility executives are most concerned about the system’s potential impact from disasters (88%), electric vehicle demand (85%), and renewable energy integration (86%).While 84 percent of utility executives feel they’re “extremely or very prepared” for what’s to come, only 47% of consumers agree.
Itron’s 2019 study highlighted how catastrophes were becoming a significant worry for utility executives and consumers alike, with a specific focus on disaster planning. In fact, 69 percent of utility executives and 55 percent of customers were more concerned about catastrophes at the time of our poll than they were five years before.
Developing countries in the Asia-Pacific area may easily integrate distributed energy resources (DERs) to satisfy rising electricity demand thanks to Itron’s AMI network. The award specifically highlighted Itron’s work with the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA), one of Thailand’s leading utilities, to install Itron’s AMI system and over 100,000 smart metres in Pattaya. Itron’s solution also prepares utilities to deal with additional issues, including power theft, revenue loss, and erroneous metre readings. According to World’s Leaders, Itron’s outstanding solution will help it enter this early-stage market due to these qualities.
