In 1972, Irene landed a part-time secretary job with Fitzgerald Realtors, working under the supervision of Fred Fitzgerald, the broker. That particular event proved to be life-changing for her. Although she enjoyed the position, Irene had to resign at some point. However, Fred shared with her his belief that she had what it takes to be successful and eventually emerge at the top of the game. This vision of his stuck with her. At 23 years old, without the benefit of modern-day technology such as MLS, computers, and cell phones, Irene got her Real Estate license. Following Fred’s advice to listen, learn, and get out there, Irene listed nine houses in her first week on the job. When Fred asked her how she managed to achieve that, her response was simple: “You told me to.”
Irene’s dedication and hard work paid off as she quickly ascended to the million-dollar club within her first two years in the industry. At that time, the average cost of a house was around $25,000. Since then, she has continued to achieve great success in the field of real estate. But her journey is far from over, and her story is much more than that.
