Below are highlights of the interview conducted between World’s Leaders and Carol Boston:
Describe who you are as a person, inside and outside of the workplace.
I am a high-energy servant leader both in and out of the workplace. As a business leadership and life coach and as a professional speaker, I love to raise up leaders and help them achieve radical transformation in both their business and personal lives. I am a powerful, courageous, and loving leader, which allows me to not only be a great leader but a great friend, confidant, and mentor.
Describe your background and what did you do before you started the company?
My leadership journey started in the 6th grade (1971) when I was the first girl to play Little League Baseball with the boys. My next step was as the first female president of the Student Council at my junior high school. I am an ex-collegiate and professional tennis player who then spent more than 26 successful years as a sales expert for Fortune 100 companies.
Tell us about the inception of the company. How did it all start?
After 26 years in large corporate structures, I took an opportunity with a small company in 2014, and after 6 weeks, we parted ways (that’s an amazing story!). I had an interview the day after we split, and was flown all over this country on interviews only to hear crickets. After selling over $70 million in revenue, I thought it ironic that I couldn’t close a deal to get myself a job. I tried for so long that I spent my entire 401k! All I could see was that I was a buttoned-up corporate sales professional. God closed every door to put me on this path of entrepreneurship. It wasn’t until late 2017 that I burned the boats, let go of Plan B and became all in.
What has made you successful? What do you value?
Being coachable, flexible, adaptable, persistent, optimistic, open and having faith have all helped in my success. I believe God gave me a lamp light only for my feet, as my job is to take the next step and trust in the process. I value relationships, trust, integrity, honor, equality, and commitment.
Which are the major services of the company and how do the company to get ahead in the competition? What value-added services does the company provide?
Private 1:1 Coaching, Group Coaching, Keynote Speaking, Corporate Training. I add elements or tools that others are not using. I am known as the Queen of Reframe and teach/train on how to craft truly empowering questions to get the answers you really want.
What are the most important aspects of a company’s culture? What principles do you believe in and how do you build this culture?
The culture is built on the values and principles stated above. The culture is built from a place of love, respect, and consistency. We approach things from a place of curiosity and not judgment. We are willing to ask every day “What else is possible today?”
What is the significance of innovative ideas in the company?
The significance of what I do with Empowering Questions got me hired 6 times by American Express in 2019, along with Keiser University, Nova Southeastern University, and many more. It is out of the box and gets people to think on a deeper level and in ways they have never thought before.
Give us your opinion on; do organizations rely heavily on individual heroics or team processes?
I believe it is more about team processes. No one does it alone. Find your tribe.
What are your responsibilities as the Principal/CEO/President of the company? What is the happiest part of your daily routine?
I am a solopreneur, so I currently wear most of all the hats. I have a virtual assistant for email campaigns and social media. The happiest part is coaching my clients or speaking to audiences.
What advice would you give someone going into a leadership position for the first time?
Get clear on who you get to “be” in order to accomplish your goals. Most people in America think “How much can I have and what do I do to get it”? Leadership is BE-DO-HAVE. It is your way of being. who do I get to be in order to do what I do so I can have what I say I want? When you know your top 3-5 ways of being and you keep them in front of you daily, you will operate better at Level 4 of responsibility when confronted with difficult challenges. My personal leadership contract with me: I am a powerful, courageous, loving leader. Those are my top 3 ways of being that I remind myself of daily and sometimes several times a day.
