Below are highlights of the interview conducted between World’s Leaders and Angela Legh:
Describe your past journey and what did you do before started your company?
I was married and working at a middle-management government job. On the surface, and to others, I appeared to have it all, yet beneath that facade lay deep despair. Unhappy in my job and my marriage, I felt trapped, unable to make decisions that might hurt or disappoint others.
In 2017, the Northern California Tubbs wildfire proved to be a catalyst for profound change in my life. Losing everything (I escaped with only the clothing I was wearing) in that fire compelled me to evaluate the meaning of life and question why I continued to endure a life filled with misery. Nine months after the crisis, I discovered the inner strength needed to make life-altering decisions, including ending a long-standing marriage and retiring from my job. My healing journey began, taking me around the world to visit several cultures and countries.
I transformed my personal experiences of emotional repression into a mission to help children and their parents thrive emotionally. Through my parenting programs and books, the Bella Santini Chronicles, I empower others to find emotional balance, unlock their inner magic, and reshape their lives.
My vulnerability in speaking about my own struggles, including moments of despair and the suppression of pain, forges a genuine connection with individuals seeking positive change. I impart a message of hope and empowerment, demonstrating that even in the darkest of times, there exists a path toward a brighter, more magical future.
What has made you successful? What do you value?
My success lies in my ability to write children’s fairytales as well as magazine interviews and articles. As an internationally renowned and acknowledged bestselling author with nine published books, which have won (so far!) five awards and numerous magazine and newspaper articles, I’ve learned to craft words that captivate and engage readers.
I firmly believe children are a blessing and a source of immense joy, and I see them as precious gifts to the world. If I had the opportunity, I would embrace every suffering and fearful child and let them know they possess incredible strength and magic within themselves. I would reassure them that, in their strength, they have the power to overcome any adversity they face.
Which are the major services of the company and how do the company to get ahead in the competition? What value-added services does the company provide?
AngelaLegh.com offers access to the Bella Santini Chronicles, a series of books for kids, and a plethora of resources for parents, including conscious parenting guides, courses, and articles. My books go beyond the typical children’s stories by including parent guides, which help parents grasp the conscious concepts conveyed through my tales. This emphasis on aiding parents in embracing consciousness sets my material apart in the realm of children’s literature.
In the resources section of my website, you’ll find links to articles addressing various parenting issues, along with free downloadable content such as emotional management guides and guided meditations. My website also links to my online course, giving parents the tools they need to model emotional resilience for their children.
What are the most important aspects of a company’s culture? What principles do you believe in, and how do you build this culture?
My business model is one of collaboration and cooperation. Uplifting and promoting others in my industry brings great satisfaction and yields profound rewards. I hold the belief that each of us brings our unique signature to our work, and we naturally attract those who resonate with our brand or signature.
Instead of viewing another author of children’s books as a competitor, I am more inclined to explore ways in which we can cross-promote and mutually promote each other’s work. I see the potential for synergy and the power of collective efforts to make a positive impact in the world of children’s literature.
What is the significance of innovative ideas in the company?
Innovation and creativity are the fuel for my company. It is my experience that this is the only children’s book series that includes a conscious parenting guide to help parents model emotional resilience for their children. What other children’s series is being turned into a social-emotional earning workbook so teachers can be guided to use the book series to expand their social-emotional learning programs beyond the CASEL (Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning) core competencies?
Give us your opinion on; do organizations rely heavily on individual heroics or team processes?
Each approach has pros and cons; however, in my experience, the diverse skill sets, perspectives, and experiences of professionals on a team bring balance and a deeper understanding of the width and breadth of a complex problem.
In my former industry, local government, the transactional heroic leadership of hierarchical control was prevalent. With some of the managers, individual employees experienced less autonomy and more micromanagement. The government hierarchy tended to stifle creativity and innovation; ideas and input from lower-level employees were too frequently ignored.
In my organization, we believe that everyone may have a great idea; contribution and collaboration are highly encouraged. There are times when I may override someone’s decision as the lead innovator in this company, but I do it with compassion and appreciation for their contribution.
What are your responsibilities as the Founder of the company? What is the happiest part of your daily routine?
As the founder of my company and the author of an award-winning children’s book series, the best part of my day is when I sit down to add to the ongoing story of Bella Santini. However, my hours and days are flexible, with magazine article deadlines, weekly television show filming, and public speaking obligations.
Any time I spend doing something creative, whether writing my books, creating social media content, or creating a social-emotional learning curriculum for sixth to eighth graders, is a joy. Interviewing interesting people and writing articles about them expands my circle of friends, which is also a joy. And public speaking at schools keeps me on my toes and can be joyous. All in all, I can say I have the best and most creative job in the world. I love what I do!
What advice would you give someone going into a leadership position for the first time?
If you’re stepping into a leadership position for the first time, it’s important to build upon your leadership style while adapting to the unique challenges and needs of your team and organization. Leading from the back of the room and empowering your staff to make decisions and use their expertise is an excellent foundation for leadership.
Remember to empower your team in your leadership role by actively listening, providing support when needed, and trusting their expertise. Your role is to guide and facilitate, allowing your talented team to shine.
