After obtaining his MBA from Rutgers University, Jeff began his career at one of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies, where he worked as a systems analyst responsible for developing and supporting the animal health division’s territory management system, which was implemented worldwide. Later, Jeff transferred to corporate headquarters, where he was responsible for developing and maintaining several systems, including the financial planning model used to value all research pipelines and inline compounds. Jeff enjoyed his time at the pharmaceutical company, particularly working with technology, which he loves. However, he realized that businesses were struggling to manage work orders, repairs, facilities, and equipment without the support of IT departments to develop or implement a world-class system.

Tell us about the inception of the company. How did it all start?
While the work I had been doing was very important, I felt like I could really handle much more responsibility and create without having to answer to others. This drive led me to embark on a new journey to start a software and consulting company. My extremely tech-savvy brother, Brian, was the ideal partner, and we decided to do this together. We quickly recognized that businesses and government organizations were in need of a solution aimed at simplifying maintenance operations at a cost-effective price. We wanted to be able to provide users with a solution that was easy to use. We wanted to be able to continue to develop the software to fit into any organization while staying ahead of technology trends and being the highest-rated provider of this technology. We both gave up working at large companies to follow our passion and begin development on our product, which would one day become the eWorkOrders computerized maintenance management system.

I attribute my success to several things:

Balancing work, family, and friends is a crucial aspect of being successful in business. In order to be successful, it’s important to prioritize these areas of your life and make time for the things that matter most. This balance is key to achieving long-term success in business, as it provides a foundation for growth and stability, allowing you to thrive both in your personal and professional life.

Give us your opinion on; do organizations rely heavily on individual heroics or team processes?
Organizations can achieve great success by relying on a combination of both individual heroics and effective team processes. Individual heroics, such as the dedication and expertise of a particular team member, can play a critical role in overcoming challenges and driving growth. Having well-established team processes in place can ensure that the entire organization is working efficiently and effectively, which is essential for long-term success.
Ultimately, the best approach is to balance individual heroics with effective team processes This type of environment allows individuals to highlight their unique abilities, while also being backed by the collective knowledge and support of the team. As a result, the organization becomes more stable and better equipped to overcome obstacles, leading to greater success in the long run.
What advice would you give someone going into a leadership position for the first time?
First-time leaders typically have a lot on their plate. I would recommend making personal connections with anyone that reports to you so you can figure out what they are good at and what motivates them. This will help tremendously with delegating the right tasks to the right people. I would also recommend fluctuating between times when you focus all of your energy on large projects that you need to do and other times when you knock out lots of little things. This will help you finish off as much as you can as quickly as you can.
