Dave does not follow any formal or proven methods, he has always been entrepreneurial, and his business leadership has always been a natural, instinctive response. He says, “I suppose if you were to really nail it down, it is just good old fashioned common sense, but I have found through years of experience that common sense is actually not all that common.”
The most exciting part of Dave’s day is seeing new orders arrive on the platforms and how they continue to grow week after week. It makes him happy and proud of what the team has accomplished with the resources they have been given during the early stages of the business. Regarding striking a balance between job and personal life, Dave is unsure that he currently has one because, if he is awake, he is working, something he probably needs to work on he says.
The Work Approach
It is evident that culture eats any business plan for breakfast, and Dave has made an effort to foster a supportive, positive culture in every company he has ever led. Before its launch, Firexo spent many years developing what is now the ground-breaking Firexo liquid. Thousands of tests were conducted before the launch in an effort to establish a functional product, and Dave is happy to report that these efforts were quite successful.
Contrary to conventional extinguishing goods, which depend on the user using the right extinguisher for the right fire, the company actually has a unique and revolutionary product. Firexo can be used on any type of fire, thus removing confusion and knowing that a user will not make a fire worse, or further endanger themselves in tackling the fire.
A Leader’s View
As a leader, one should remain positive no matter what is thrown at him or her, stay calm in a situation where others might worry. Dave says, “Give yourself space and time to stop and think.” Quite often, if faced with a challenge, he will not do anything immediately and will sleep on it. The world always looks very different the next day. He also adds, “When given good news, always ensure you thank people, congratulate them, and recognize efforts. You will be surprised how much of an effect this has, and it does not always have to be about financial reward.”
Dave intended Firexo to be a huge global business, and he still maintains that this is what the company will be. He says, “We have had a rather stop-and-start few years but have emerged in 2022 very strong and are now operating in multiple countries and across multiple offices and warehouse locations.”
