I enjoy being an individual contributor as an entrepreneur leading organizations, directing, strategizing, and then coaching and implementing solutions for best results. What advice would you give someone going into a leadership position for the first time?
Take some leadership and executive training courses. Push yourself to the limits. Ask for input and constructive criticism and act on it. Don’t take things personally. It’s best when you listen with an open ear and put things into play to make improvements. Make change happen. Don’t look back and regret what you could have done when you can do things to make change occur.
And always be passionately positive, showing encouragement to others. Use open-ended inquiries so others welcome the opportunity to return and speak with you. Don’t close the door on anyone.
