Joseph Chan, Founder & CEO of AsiaPay, started and spearheaded the company with the sole aim of bringing safe, convenient, and integrated payments to different Asian markets and industries. His visionary take on electronic payments started as a Hong Kong-based firm back in 2000, and is now operating in 11 markets in Asia.
Before building his mark on the industry, Joseph aims towards delivering consumers’ desired payment convenience, values, and merchants’ integrated payment processing, settlements, and reporting, which stand as key factors why AsiaPay was built. Tell us about how efficient your organization’s products and services are from an operational standpoint.
Operating efficiently means using resources like time, employees, equipment, products, and capital in an optimised way to serve the business. Efficient companies are leaner, agile and more profitable. Ever since the pandemic began, there’s a vast difference from how we operate the company then and now. With the unique challenges we are facing, we have moved along with the payment innovations of providing cutting-edge products and services to our clients.
-Performance and reliability: We strive to provide a robust, high-performance, and resilient digital payment processing service at zero-down time.
-Security: We understand there is no bullet-proof security in digital work. Apart from enforcing the latest card standards and technologies and complying with PCI DSS standards, we continue to engage new security companies in partnerships for their advanced value-added security technologies and services
-Account service and Technical Support – We believe in localisation day one. Locally trained professionals provide dedicated account and technical support in the local time zone and languages.
-User Experience-we launched a revamped Merchant Admin Portal, to modernize, enhance, and simplify the administration experience for our valued clients.
-Experience and knowledge sharing: we continue to provide regular guidelines and training to clients on the latest payment tools and technologies, as well as new payment standards and practises.
-Launched PayDollar AppPay mobile App which allows merchants to accept multiple payments through QR code and payment link with their own smart phone devices.
-Fully support merchants to accept the most local popular BNPL payments in different countries.
-Launched ApplePay, Click to Pay, and ShopeePay, etc. which support our merchants’ stay on top of marketing trends and optimise sales conversions.

How effective is your organization’s strategic vision? What are the three things you would like to share about the company?
Our strategic vision is to be the leading DIGITAL PAYMENT SERVICE & TECHNOLOGY player in Asia and beyond.
Firstly, on the technical front, we have been PCI DSS level 1 compliant since 2006, one of the earliest PSPs in Asia that achieves such a high standard of Data Security for payment processing, over 15 years in Asia.
Secondly, on payment authentication, we are one of the very few 3D Secure certified vendors in Asia that is compliant with all 6 card brands-Visa, MasterCard, Amex, Discover/Diners, JCB, and CUP for issuing side and acquiring banks since 2003, not only the existing version 1.0 but also the latest 2.0. We are one of the very few certified vendors that supports the latest card tokenization standards of Visa (VTS) and MasterCard (MDES).
Finally, as a fintech player in risk control and monitoring, we provide our advanced anti-fraud processing and reporting tools to merchants for FREE (no additional costs) as part of our payment service.These have been used every day by all our banks and merchant clients in 11 countries in Asia since 2005.
What is the direction and state of innovations in the company?
